The directions are straightforward and setup took about 15 minutes. I will look into that, though. I would have like the speed of wireless-N but I just couldn't get it to work.Aside from that, this router was easy to install. This is a good router. I am enjoying this new router. For some reason, I still can't connect my DSi with the network.
I am very satisfied with that.
I tested out wi-fi connection with my iPod touch and it work perfectly.
Overall, I've experienced no connection loss or lag.
I originally bought a Linksys Wireless-N router to replace our old D-Link, but I couldn't get it to work with a number of wi-fi devices at home, so I went back down to wireless-G.
Otherwise, I've been able to use all other devices perfectly.
We had our new network up & running very quickly.
So far, I've successfully been able to connect laptops, gaming systems (Wii/PSP), mp3 players, and smartphones.
Devices connect right away, and that makes using the network very seamless.
We've been without our own wi-fi network for a few years, and to have one that is working properly again is nice to have.
Do not scared by those one star reviews, the router has undergone 10 generations from WGR614v1 to WGR614v10, I belive those one star reviews attribute to the earlier version of this product. My friend has a WGR614v8 and it is very stable and with surprisingly good Qos,which is quite important for smooth web surfing under heavy load. We buy the same model and expected to be the same but turned to be a wrong decision, the current one (bought at Walmart at 02/2010) is actually a different model: WGR614v9, with only 8MB Ram and 2MB flash Rom, only half of the WGR614v8, and more important no more Qos in router firmware, it is much slower than the WGR614v8, especially under heavy load thus need manual reboot. It is a shame that netgear ruin such a good product to make room for more expensive model while still trying make money from a cost down version.
Such an easy setup that I was amazed. It was so easy to get it ready that I was surprised. I went to their setup website and in less than 2 minutes it was perfectly working
I have had it with this router. I got this router for $14.00 new so I will say when I first got it it worked great until I reset it to because I forgot my password for my wireless connection. I tried resetting everything three times. I would not recommended this to anyone ,including my own worst enemy.It will automatically go back to the main page when logged into any accounts.I even looked for a firmware update their was none available. When I tried watching music videos it would not load it would just freeze up.I disconnected the router and sure enough it was the culprit.This is my first netgear router and will be my last.
mine works great. and. and those are the kinda people who will have trouble with this. just my opinion but I think there are some people who are pretty comfortable with hooking stuff up and just hoping it will work. and I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS on the CD Rom to hook it up and it has worked great ever since. once day I hooked directly from cable to my computer and my speed doubled to over 20mbps.
so I knew my old router was a choke point. I got this new router. I don't know what peoples' problem is with this router. but. but mine works great. you gotta follow directions. many people just refuse to take the time to follow the directions.
but like I said. I was getting 10mbps with my old LinkSys router. The CD Rom that walks you through the installation/connection is great. I have never had to reboot in nearly 14 months it's been online. that's not to say there might not be some bugs out there. easy to understand and follow. I know this for a fact because I am usually the one in my family to go over to their house and fix it for them.
